On January 2, Kumho Tire announced the launch of its first self-sealing tire in the domestic market. The company's "K-Seal" technology has been launched in the Kumho Majesty Solus series and is available in three sizes-275/40ZR19 XL 105W, 245/45ZR19 XL 102W and 235/45ZR17 XL 97W. These tires can automatically seal punctures with treads up to 5 mm in diameter.
At this time, self-sealing tires were only sold in the Korean market, and Kumho was the first domestic manufacturer to release such products in Korea. The tire manufacturer said that the price of tires equipped with K-Seal technology is about 30% higher than that of the same standard tires. Although they are about 10% heavier than standard tires, self-sealing tires still have the same level of performance and ride comfort.
"Our sealant tires are the first sealant tires in the Korean market, and are the result of the cutting-edge technical strength created by technology giant Kumho Tire," commented Jung Il-Taik, Senior Vice President in charge of materials development. "Kumho Tire will continue to develop products for the safety and convenience of customers."
